Iron Ore Magnetic Separation Process

As we know, iron ore is the important raw material for iron and steel making. There are various kinds of iron ore in the nature, but only several types can be used for iron and steel production, like magnetite, hematite, and siderite and so on. And in order to get iron concentrate from iron ore, we need to process iron ore. In this article, we focus on iron ore magnetic separation processing plant design.

Iron Ore Magnetic Separation Process

In a complete iron ore magnetic separation processing plant, we need not only the magnetic separator but also the crushing& screening and grinding equipment. In the crushing& screening stage, we need primary crusher and secondary crusher to crush the bulk iron ore into proper sizes to enter the grinding mill. And vibrating screen is used to separate the crushed iron ore particles. The grinding mill is used to grind the particles into powder for the further magnetic separation.

First of all, the iron ore will be fed into jaw crusher for primary crushing. And then the crushed iron ore particles will be conveyed to the cone crusher for fine crushing. After this, the particles will be sent to the vibrating screen for separating and grading. The particles with required sizes will be fed into grinding mill while others will be sent back to the cone crusher for re-grinding. After being ground into required sized powder, the iron ore will be sent to the magnetic separator for beneficiation. And then we can get iron concentrate.

As we can see, in the above mentioned plant, there are several different types of machines. SBM provides different types and models for these machines and our engineer will first recommend suitable machine and then design proper plant for customers.
